Default Level Cap 50 for Beta Players?

I was talking to some random person today, and I asked if the level cap was still lv. 20, and he told me it was, but that beta players had a level cap of 50? Well I have a beta pass from when the game first started and such, but I didnt know anything about this. If this is true, can someone tell me how it works please?

Thanks.

Doubts abound. I think that tugging on your leg has been explained.

I'm not sure what you mean by "how does it work". If there was part of the beta where the level cap was 50, it doesn't affect us in any way, because by the time they came out with the real game, they were firm on 20. The beta for Guild Wars Prophecies is obviously closed since the game's been out for months now, so you can't go back and play the beta if that's what you're asking.

No, he said, that for the people who played during beta, their level cap was still 50. Thats why I was confused and made this post to see what it was all about.

Oh. Well you don't have worry about that. All of the betas are performed on a completely seperate server. When the game comes out, beta testers have to purchase the real game and start over from scratch just like the rest of us so there is no worry of them being able to use/exploit anything that was imbalanced in the betas.

To even believe this for any measurement of time is insane.

TheMosesPHD is correct. I've got a beta tester friend, and this is exactly what he had to do. His beta account was deleted, and he had to purchase the game and start over. His level cap is at 20, just like the rest of us.

20 was the max level in betas too. It was a great feeling when I reached it on the weekends, so that i could play with full attribute points, I loved my fire ele, and the skill rings

I am glad the level cap isn't 50. It might enable you to beat all the monsters with ease, but getting to level 50 would suck.

Yes because betas are for testing the balance of the game and general unseen errors to the general public. This can only be done if the level is ridiculously higher than it is apon release.

I'm a beta player and can tell you its false.

Lvl 20 cap will never be changed.

I've only had the game since xmas but I did play in the very first alpha test weekend. Everyone was locked at 14/15 (I forget which) and even then the supposed level cap was 20. So er... yeah, they're either lying or were lied to.

It's also been stated in practically every interview they've ever given that they're not going to raise the level cap because this game isn't supposed to be about levels. They've actually decreased the time it takes to reach level 20 in GW:Factions, apparently. Does that sound like the kind of thing they'd be doing if they secretly intended to turn this into a level-grind game?

And that is exactly as I presumed. Oh and forever told me that I was insane for believing this, the reason I made the post was because I did not believe it and wanted to know why the kid told me that. I am not insane, just inquisitive.

Thank you for your replies.

<- Playing since E34A 2004. The original plan was to have a level cap of 50 but later it got changed to 20.

The absolute original level cap was 50, this was then quickly lowered to 20 to remove horrid grind.

I dont believe the game was even playable when the level 50 cap was in place.

How many attribute points would you have by level 50? O.o

Spiteful Spirit: For next 2 hours, whenver target foe attacks, uses a skill, or breathes, that foe and all foes on the radar take 200 damage.
